I’m Cara, the heart (and hands!) behind Modern Rations. A (almost) middle-aged mum of two, I’ve always loved cooking, but like many, I took a different path in life and never pursued my culinary dreams until now. For years, I found joy in feeding family and friends, but it wasn’t until last year that I finally decided to take the plunge.
I enrolled in an intensive food course, determined to rediscover my passion and gain the skills and confidence to turn my love for food into something bigger. Now, I’m on a mission to bring seasonal, high-quality, and nourishing food to the people of South East London, whether it’s through curated corporate events, private catering, or everyday meals that celebrate real ingredients.
I believe in cooking with purpose, sourcing locally, avoiding ultra-processed foods, and creating dishes that fuel both body and soul. Food isn’t just about eating; it’s about community, connection, and sharing moments that matter.
